You can purchase a VPN (just search VPN service in Google) so that everytime you connect your iPad to a public Wi-Fi hotspot it will establish a secure connection deemed to be un-hackable.

To set up a VPN simply:

  1. Tap Settings > General > Network
  2. Tap the Add VPN tab
  3. Enter your VPN server settings provided by your service providers, then tap save.ipad vpn settings
  4. A VPN icon will now appear in the status bar at the top of the iPad telling you that your connection is secure.

Now you will have a secure connection when you log onto a public Wi-Fi hotspot. Just be careful if you let your iPad go into sleep mode as this turns off the VPN and you will have to reconnect to your VPN server.
