Does Size Matter?
If your not sure about how much memory you will need with your iPad then please read this simple iPad tutorial on what size memory you might require.
Well basically you will have a choice of 3 sizes of memory or in Lehman terms ‘storage capacity’. The iPad 2 like the iPad comes with 16gb, 32gb or 64gb of memory, and choosing the correct size is pretty detrimental in getting the most out of your iPad. If you buy an iPad 16gb, only to find you need more memory for things such as movies and music then you’ll find that there is no way of extending the iPads memory by way of memory cards, flash card or even external hard drives due to the fact that the iPad does not have a USB socket for external memory to connect to, so you will be left with a lame duck where you are constantly adding and erasing files to make room for others. On the other hand if you buy a 64gb model only to surf the net with then you’ve most probably wasted a good $100-$150 0r £100 on a model with more than what you require, although you can NEVER have enough memory.
Below is our guide to what size memory you will most probably require for certain applications and usage -
Based on an average – Movie 2-4 gb (DVD), 700mb-1.5 gb (Ripped DVD-AVI) – Music Album 70-150 mb and Games or Apps 1-300mb
- 16GB Model – Light user, surfing the web, checking emails and running low spec apps and games. Enough room for a few movies and albums without deleting files constantly, people who intend to stream media such as Netflix
- 32GB Model – Medium User, media comprising of 5-6 films, a few albums, ebooks, a lot of apps and photos
- 64GB Model – Heavy User, Business user orientated, lots of movies, music, photos, apps, games and more
So again it comes down to user discrepancy and money, the price range from the 16gb Wi-fi to the 64gb Wi-fi/3G is a hell of a lot. Choose wisely!
